Primary Music Lead Meeting

Music and Performing Arts Salford (MAPAS) would like to invite you to attend the music lead network meeting.

The focus for this meeting will be on creating a School Music Development Plan as mentioned in the National Plan for Music Education.

The National Plan for Music Education was published in June 2022. The document sets out the government’s vision to enable all children and young people in England to: learn to sing, play an instrument and create music together and have the opportunity to progress their musical interests and talents, including professionally.

The National Plan for Music Education would like to see every school drawing out their subject-specific approach in a School Music Development Plan. The School Music Development Plan should set out how a school will deliver high-quality music provision for all pupils.

In this meeting MAPAS will be providing a briefing session about what you might want to include in a School Music Development Plan. Ideally you will need to have completed the evaluation section of the document before attending the meeting, we also think it would be useful for you to bring your laptop along to the meeting to make some notes on your School Music Development Plan.
