Salford Schools’ Library Service lends project loans and many other children’s book resources to teachers.

Coronavirus update

We have recently started to get our service back up and running, after being closed for safety reasons during the Coronavirus outbreak. We are currently open every weekday for schools to return and collect books, by appointment only. For further details please contact us.

Most schools in Salford subscribe to our service – contact us to find out what you can borrow. We can also arrange to lend books to schools outside Salford.  Contact us for further details.

“Excellent selection of books, an extremely useful resource– all well used for sharing, as resources and by individual children.  Thank you.”

As well as lending books, we provide the following services to subscribing schools:

  • Advice on developing your school library
  • Telephone helpline during opening hours
  • Email bulletins
  • For secondary schools – networking meetings for the librarian or teacher in charge of the school library
  • For secondary schools – participation in the Salford Children’s Book Award

You can download our latest resources list below.  The resources list gives details of our collections of class readers, mini class readers, guided readers, big books and author boxes.

We are open throughout all the school holidays with the exception of Christmas.
