Why Choose an Early Morning Workouts.

Early morning workouts offer a way to start the day with a boost of energy, while also removing any pressure to squeeze your workout into your lunch break, or drag yourself to the gym at the end of a busy day. This also helps you to keep your exercise routine consistent, as getting your workout done first thing means that the day to day stresses and obstacles that can occur during to the day and prevent you from fitting a workout in probably haven’t happened yet.

Other Benefits of Early Morning Workouts
As with anything in life, when you’re planning a workout routine, it is important that you choose a routine that works for you and fits into your lifestyle. Your chosen routine should be one that you can do consistently and that works best for you. Early morning workouts therefore, are not for everyone
However, here are some more great benefits that come with working out in the morning:
- It sets you up for the day with a sense of achievement from the off
- There are fewer distractions early doors, before the phone starts ringing or emails come in.
- The natural energy boost provided by an early morning workout, can help you reduce your caffeine intake and make healthier food choices throughout the day
- Feeling fatigued? Early morning exercise helps reduce fatigue and increase energy levels all day long.
- Physical activity increases focus and concentration, so a morning workout may improve your output at work.
- Morning exercise can lead to improved quality of sleep, as it helps regulate the body’s internal clock.
- As exercise boosts energy levels, a late evening workout can result in subsequent difficulty getting to sleep
Morning Vs Evening Exercise
While there are many benefits to ‘getting the job done’ early in the morning, that’s doesn’t mean evening workouts don’t have their benefits too. Possible advantages include:
- Higher body temperature. Your body temperature is naturally higher in the evening, with peak times being around 5pm. This can reduce risk of injury and the time needed to prepare for your workout, as your muscles are already warmed up.
- Increased strength, energy and endurance. Due to the body’s natural circadian rhythm, your strength and endurance are higher in the early afternoon and evening, while you might also have more readily available energy to burn, due to the calories you’ve eaten throughout the day.
- Stress relief. After a busy day of work or errands, exercise can be a great way to unwind and de-stress. Exercising after work means you can take your time, and not have to rush off to your next commitment at the end of your workout.
A Final Word
Whether you’re a morning, or an evening person, Group Exercise Classes are a great option to; help you train with expert guidance (without the additional costs of a personal trainer), keep your training consistent (as you can book onto and commit to your classes), and help you find workout buddies to keep you motivated and turning up.
David Parkin, an SCL instructor and personal trainer gives his advice:
“My top tip would be to vary your classes to get the maximum benefit. Mix things up and keep things fresh – if you’re a regular at Body Pump then give HIIT Step a try, or if you’re a regular at Sprint give Spin Sculpt a go etc. Change brings change. Use the varied timetable to your advantage”.
