The Den
The Den is your local hub for play, sport and creativity in Walkden.
The Den is a multi-functional space designed to bring your community together under one roof. From first steps to golden years, there is something here everyone.
From craft clubs, to dance sessions, gymnastics to darts, there’s something for everyone at The Den.
We have weekly Youth Clubs, a wide variety of sports and interest groups, and a Shop & Drop session, meaning you can get the weekly shop in while the kids stay entertained. But, it’s not just for kids sessions like Decades Dance and Sporting Memories offer great options for adults to make friends, get active and stay connected.

Travel back in time as we dance to the greatest hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond. No experience needed just come along, have a dance, share a story and enjoy the atmosphere. |

(age 3-4) |
4:00pm-4:45pm | Rise Gymnastics is a fun packed programme that provides a progressive journey through recreational gymnastics. The phases of Discover and Explore take young gymnasts from their very first steps, all the way through to advanced skills. |

| SEND Dance | 5:45pm-6:30pm | Join us at our fun and friendly dance club. Learn new moves to your favourite songs, meet new friends whilst improving balance, coordination and agility. Combining simple dance routines along with the use of equipment including ribbons, scarves, pom pom’s and parachutes. The fun routines and activities are designed so that everyone can join in and have a good time. |

With quizzes, discussion and interactive activities such as curling, participants share memories of watching or playing sport, reconnecting with past moments that spark joy and conversation. By tapping into a shared passion for sport, we help build friendships and reduce isolation |
| Home Education Sessions
(age 6-8) |
1:00pm -3:00pm | Our Home Education Programme runs in structured 6 week blocks, offering a varied and engaging timetable of activities. Young people can work towards an accredited qualification such as Sports Leadership, take part in non-accredited learning such as Mini Medics and enjoy practical sessions including dance, gymnastics and a range of physical activities |
| Art Club
(5-11) |
3:45pm-4:45pm | Active Arts is suitable for young people aged 5-11 years to come and get crafty for an hour of creative fun. The session will include a range of interactive activities including drawing, painting, collage, sculptures, games and slime workshops. |
| Junior Youth Club
(8-12) |
5pm-6:30pm | High energy fun at The Den, from action packed sport in our inflatable sports arena to pool, table tennis and air hockey, there’s always something happening. Dive into console and VR gaming, get creative with arts sessions, and hang out with friends in a safe space supported by experienced youth workers. |

A. Challender / A parentI just wanted to leave a review for the brilliant service we received for my son's 11th birthday party at The Den in Walkden. The event was run by Active Communities, and it was a total success. My son and his friends had a fantastic time. Huge thanks to the staff on duty, who were so polite, helpful, and welcoming. I would highly recommend this venue to any parents looking to book a party!
