To celebrate Black History Month, we are inviting you to choose books written by BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of colour) authors and to diversify your bookshelf.

Diversifying your reading choices will open you up to a world of different viewpoints, opinions, and ideas. It’s a chance for readers to step outside of our own experiences and embrace stories that challenge us and make us grow.

To help you on this journey, we have a bundle of two books to get you started, ‘A Renaissance of Our Own’ by Rachel Elizabeth Cargle and ‘The Good Ally’ by Nova Read – which can be reserved online or at Pendleton Library. We have also included a prompt list of topics and book genres you can explore for this challenge.

Need some reading inspiration? Check out the Black History Month collection on our website and order your books today. Or, if you prefer to read digitally, use the Borrowbox app to find lots of other fantastic books for you to choose from to diversify your bookshelf.
