A blossoming partnership is forming at Salford Sports Village between the Just Play ladies football session and the F92 ladies walking football session.
F92, the official charity partner of Salford City FC, run their ladies walking football session at SSV and have been regularly teaming up and playing in tournaments together under the F92 brand. Siobhan Maguire, Duty Manager at SSV tells us about the recent collaboration.
‘Our Just Play sessions are exactly as they sound – fun, informal and open to anyone over the age of 16. The idea is that you might not be part of a team or have any football playing friends, so the teams are picked there and then at the session, playing 5 or 6-a-side depending on numbers. The collaboration between the Just Play ladies and the F92 walking football ladies has proved really successful and after a short amount of time they are playing matches together. They have a great camaraderie. What is brilliant is it’s completely inclusive with all types of footballing abilities and ages and no one is ever left on the bench. At the last match there were three teams and over 20 ladies playing in the tournament!’.
Even better, sessions are FREE to SCL members (sessions are open to non-members too, so do bring a friend along, there’s just a small charge applicable).
Carla Maguire, a Ladies Just Play regular and staff member at SSV says “ I’d encourage anyone looking to try something new to come and join us. We were all new to the session and have already become great friends. It’s fun, we teach each other new tricks and have a laugh. People shouldn’t be scared to come along and play. Everyone is welcoming and we have so much fun.”
