What is a Core exercise class?

It’s a workout that uses your body weight, to tone your midsection. But that’s more than just exercising your abs! Your core also includes a group of muscles that support your spine, hips and pelvis, stomach, back, and diaphragm. Exercises are designed to improve your functional strength for better mobility and injury prevention.

What are the benefits of Core exercise?

  • Most sports and other physical activities depend on stable core muscles.
  • Incorporating core exercises into your routine at home or at the gym will reap the rewards by giving you a strong foundation.
  • Core exercise helps by supporting balance, posture, and stability. Great if you run or jog to keep momentum in your stride.
  • Core training can even help alleviate backache and pain. A strong core helps avoid muscle injuries and back pain.
  • Supports strength training – a strong core helps lift more weight. So, whether that’s a fitness goal you’re aiming towards or just daily lifting in life.

Functional Bootcamp Classes:

Chris Smith, Head Coach at Crossfit SCL says:

‘Any exercise that requires balance will work your core. Think squats, bridges, and planks as some well-known examples. Check out the Core classes available at SCL centres, plus at CrossFit SCL we have our new Functional Bootcamp class which is a great way of incorporating core exercises as part of a functional class’.
