This accolade is managed and issued by the Proud Trust, and shows that an organisation takes a positive approach to LGBT+ inclusion.
In order to achieve the award, organisations must submit evidence to pass several modules, including Skilled Staff, Positive Outreach and Youth Voice.
Over the course of the past 12 months, MAPAS staff, tutors and customers have been involved in helping us meet the requirements of each module. This has involved a range of actions such as developing training courses for all tutors, changing internal systems to record pronouns/preferred names and even organising a concert series themed ‘PROUD’ (where pieces of music written by LGBT+ artists were celebrated and performed).
We are pleased to say that MAPAS are now official recipients of the Rainbow Flag Award and can proudly state that our service is welcoming to, and inclusive of, people from the LGBT+ community.
