The City of Salford Synchronised Swim Team are celebrating once again with an outstanding Bronze medal win in the Free team event at the Swim England Artistic Swimming Junior/Senior Championships.

Head Coach Jessica Fletcher says:

Day 1 – What an amazing day! We are so PROUD of our swimmers for their fantastic results in Nottingham over the weekend.

With the sport going through such a huge change in judging and scoring and new rules, our goal was to finish the day with no penalties and enjoy our routines and Team Salford smashed it! 7 out of 10 of our squad were competing at National Champs for the first time today and we are so so happy with our results.

In the first event of the day, both our Tech Soloists finished in the top 10.

8th Sophie R (62.3852)

10th Pru (60.6867)

We are very proud of both girls.

In the Technical Team event, we were drawn to swim first to showcase the new technical elements and the team were excited to show our new ‘Baseball’ choreography. Our swimmers swam their hearts out and we finished 4th with a great score of 62.2065 – only 0.03 from the podium and less than 3 points from Gold!

Day 2 : We had BIG footsteps to follow from the success of last years team and with such a new and young squad (3 swimmers still only 14!) we are SO PROUD of the hard work, focus, determination, team work and friendship of this years National Champs Squad!

In the Free Solo event our swimmers Pru and Sophie swam really well and finished with some great scores:

9th Sophie R (64.5667)

12th Pru (63.0333)

In the Free Duet, our swimmers Amy, Sophie R and Reserve Sophie F absolutely smashed their routine and in the toughest field of 20 entries, finished 4th!! A great score of 65.1333 just over a point from the podium. An incredible result!

In the final event of the weekend, our swimmers swam an amazing Free Team scoring 66.3333 – winning the Bronze and finally reaching the podium at these Championships!

A huge well done to our swimmers, a big thank you to our coaching staff and everyone who came to support and a big thank you to Swim England and all the officials and volunteers who made the competition a really great event.
