This October a unique experience is coming to Parr Fold Park, Walkden.
What about Me? Is an immersive visual and audio experience which takes you around the park to hear the voices of hundreds of young people from Salford.
As you wander through tress and pathways you will hear the voices of our local young people having frank discussions about where they live, where they play, where they feel safe, and where they want the course of their life to take them.
These stories come to life through audio, film, and photography in a spectacular takeover of Parr Fold Park, bringing the streets of Salford and the tower block skyline to the natural environment of the park.

Funding from The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) Culture programme enabled Salford Community Leisure and Greater Manchester Arts (GM Arts) to commission Rochdale based Breaking Barriers to create a project that empowered young people to explore, express and shape their own narratives within society and understand the local creative and cultural opportunities in the City.
Using additional funding from Salford City Council Culture Team, Breaking Barriers were able to employ six assistants who are either still studying or are just starting in their creative careers to help create the project. This will provide them with valuable work experience to set them up on their career journeys.
Local communities can adventure through the park where you will hear about secret hideouts, cul-de-sac football matches and the best spots for sugary snacks. These vivid snapshots of childhood unfold into visions of Salford’s future — one built with creativity, cheek and determination.
The experience culminates at the park’s bandstand, where sound, projections and youthful voices come together in a striking vision of tomorrow’s world.

Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th, Saturday 25th October 2025. Performances at 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm each evening.
