KCA UK Athletics chose our very own Cleavely Track to host their sporting event as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations.

The group consist of of friends/families’ who hail from southern India and reside in and around Manchester.

The majority work within the healthcare sector as nurses or doctors, and chose to create a community association ‘KCA UK’ to have a common place to meet and greet for those coming over from southern Indian. Every year they conduct a sporting event for children and adults to bond as a community in the summer.

Dave Lark – Eccles Leisure Centre Staff Member who oversaw the event said:

“The day was a great success. We had a sports day organised by a group health care health worker and NHS staff all from India.

We also had a band, dancing and an Indian breakfast and lunch, which they invited SCL staff to join in.

The feedback we received was brilliant, they all said how the communication from Eccles Leisure Centre was really great in helping to organise the event.

At the end of the event, there was a presentation which I was invited to take part in. I got a round of applause from everyone, and I was handed a trophy which was their way of saying thank you for a fantastic day.

For me, this is definitely the best community event we have ever held at Cleavely Track. At the end, they said the venue was perfect for them and that they would be back again next year.”
