Katie Lee just missed the final of the 200 Backstroke and finished her racing with the 200 IM finishing 26th. Katie remains ranked in the top 6 British swimmers in the 400 IM.
Jess Corder was marginally outside her 400 Free PB finishing 48th overall and just shy of a junior final.
A terrific swim saw Amelie Blocksidge win her 7th consecutive British title in the 800 Freestyle to add to her title in the 1500 Free (4th in a row!). In a race which she dominated, Amelie showed great composure and determination to put her 400 final performance behind her. For context Amelie turned over 2 seconds faster at the half way stage than her 400 Free final time. This shows outstanding mentality, resilience and how great athletes can turn their fortunes around very quickly.
Amelie will have to wait to see if she is selected for the Commonwealth Games. After posting two consideration times we will be keeping our fingers crossed!
There were many compliments paid by commentator, former Olympic medallist Andy Jameson. He praised Amelie, our coaches and the Salford programme for producing British Senior Champions from a Club programme outside of the National Performance Centres and Universities… this is so great to hear.
Well done to you all who trekked down here to the capital.
