As Freelance Fitness Instructors, integral to the wider SCL workforce, we recognise your valuable contribution to supporting our mutual aim of encouraging movement, improving health and wellbeing and, in particular, promoting the importance of good strength and balance at any age. We are keen to support you in your ongoing CPD with this exciting new opportunity of a FREE CPD and the opportunity to deliver a brand new Strength and Balance class.
Most people don’t think about balance until they start to loose it. However, by increasing baseline strength and balance now we can reduce the risk of injurious falls later in life.
It’s highly likely that these essential fitness components are already embedded into your classes. As instructors you have the power to help people avoid falls later in life, to educate and empower your clients and to get everyone talking about the importance of strength and balance both now and throughout their lifetime.
This interactive 2.5 hour workshop will include practical sessions, where your strength and balance will be tested and we’ll also hear from Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Research Fellow, Ashley Gluchowski who will be facilitating conversation to identify what we’re already doing, how we can improve strength and balance messaging and help us to discover new ways of thinking.
We’ll be joined by 3 specialists from 3 different disciplines for which strength and balance are at their core- Louisa Griffin, Director at The Pilates Rooms, Deni Stoynev Director and Head Coach at Free Spirit Parkour and Bex Townley, Director at Later Life Training, Senior Activity and Health Practitioner, who will each be delivering 20 minute sessions, providing a wealth of quick, simple skills/exercises from a variety of perspectives, which can be incorporated into the great classes we’re already delivering, to ensure that strength and balance is embedded into everything we do for all ages.
SCL are very fortunate to have a highly skilled, knowledgeable and passionate team of instructors with a wealth of experience which makes this concept have all the more potential! SCL has not delivered anything like this before. It’s an opportunity to share practice, learn from one another and be part of a brand new innovation…
We’re initially looking for 8-10 freelance instructors who are keen to be involved.
If you’re interested in being part of this very new, exciting idea please drop me an email at lucy.reynolds@scll.co.uk, thank you!
