Come along to Eccles Library to meet Dave Bushell and hear him talk about his book ‘Dreams do come true!’.

This is the story of Dave Bushell who has lived a life of footballing experience and excellence. From leading the England u15s schoolboys side out of the same venues tunnel as their manager, Dave’s career in teaching is documented as are those five seasons as England u15 manager when a young Ryan Wilson (later Giggs) would be his captain in one of them.

A chance meeting with the then Alex Ferguson in 1991 brought a life changing opportunity for Dave. It started with the offer to run a new Manchester United u16 side in 1992 then the offer to go full time in 1995 as the clubs Youth Development Officer. By 1997 when Academies came into the game Alex Ferguson made Dave Head of Education and Welfare.

Still at Manchester United 30 years later, his experience of Education, Pastoral Care and Coaching has seen him being there at the start of young players careers such as Darren Fletcher, Jonny Evans, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Danny Welbeck, Scott McTominay- right up to Kobbie Mainoo of today, along with hundreds of other young hopefuls who have made their mark on the game of football.

After the talk there is an opportunity to have refreshments, chat to Dave, and to buy a copy of the book for £10 – all proceeds are going to The Christie Hospital.

Drop-in event, no booking required.
