Get ready for a brand new exhibition celebrating 50 years of Salford life at Height Library bringing together images from the past and present in one striking display.

The exhibition features photographs taken in 1977 across Langworthy, Weaste, Ordsall and the Adelphi area by photographers Steve Chapman and Phil Portus.

Following a showcase of Phil Portus’ work at Langworthy Cornerstone in 2024 and a 2025 exhibition from Steve Chapman, where both exhibitions contributed to the identity of the local community by jogging their memories and showing today’s young people how it was in the past, the two have come together to celebrate Salford 100 with another exhibition.

Both photographers have teamed up with A Level students Ella Fletcher and Reede Wallace from Pendleton Sixth Form College, who have contributed their own contemporary photographs of Salford.

The result is a thoughtful comparison between past and present, highlighting how the city has evolved while retaining its strong sense of identity.

The exhibition can be viewed by the public at Height Library, during opening hours, from 21st April until 25th July.
