Join local author Frank Mullineux, and award winner and historian Paul Speakman as they present a heritage talk on the visit of Queen Victoria to Worsley, Salford and Manchester in 1851.
Her visit with Prince Albert allowed them to stay as guests of the Earl and Countess of Ellesmere at Worsley New Hall. During her visit, Queen Victoria dined with James Nasmyth, Engineer and inventor of the Steam Hammer, visited Peel Park, cheered on by a massive crowd and what has been suggested as 80000 Sunday School children! She also visited the Royal Exchange in Manchester.
We will have refreshments available on the day and there will be time to spend looking around the library too.
The library will open at 1.30pm and the talk will start at 2.00pm.
FREE, booking required.
This event is part of the Heritage Open Days Festival.
