We have a very proud history of developing international swimmers and National Champions since 1977, including 2o Internationals over the past 11 years. Our extensive success includes Olympic representatives, 2 Paralympic gold medallists, 4 World Record Holders in Disability Swimming, 4 GB Open Water Internationals and numerous National Champions at all levels.

Swimmers who have achieved all the skills required through our Learn to Swim programme will enter our Academies which for the stepping stone from our Learn to Swim programme to our Competitive Training Scheme.

The Academy Groups will be based at most of our pools and will provide members with a variety of valuable additions to the current level of provision.

Some key features include:

  • 3 training sessions per week based at your local pool
  • Taster sessions for Competitive Swimming, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo, Rookie Lifeguard, Diving and Triathlon
  • Opportunities to experience a competitive swimming competition
  • Links to the local swimming club in your area
  • Priority enrolment on our holiday swimming camps
  • Fast tracking to Competitive Swimming
  • Guest visits and coaching sessions by GB Swimmers, Aquatic Coaches and Squad Coaches

Swimmers in our Competitive Training Scheme will compete for The City of Salford Swimming Club. Working partnership with the club, we are committed to providing elite training provision throughout scheme.
