In Salford we believe that our health and wellbeing is improved by connecting with culture, creativity and heritage.

Creative health recognises the link between wellbeing and the arts – whether that’s drawing or diamond art, cheerleading or cookery, making music or visiting museums.

In Spring 2026 we are running a social media campaign asking everyone to show us what you in Salford do to be creative – and to tell us how it makes you feel.

Everyone living, earning or learning in Salford is welcome to join in. Maybe you take your kids to a pre-school art class … or maybe you go to an older adults choir (and everything in between). Maybe you are a professional artist … or maybe it’s something you do to chill out when you’re not working.

You can share your pictures and stories as a group or as an individual. To join in, please:

  • Send us a photo showing us what you do – whether it’s singing or sketching, nail art or needlework.
  • Tell us in a sentence or two how it makes you feel.

You can tag us on social media @SalfordCreativeHealth on Facebook & Instagram, or email us on salfordcreativehealth@scll.co.uk. You can drop any questions to this email address too.

The stories and images that you share will give us a better picture of what local people do to get creative – and they language they use to describe the benefits. These insights will help to shape future community plans for creativity and wellbeing in Salford. We will not use any of the images you share without first seeking your permission. By emailing us or tagging Salford Creative Health we might message you back to follow up – asking a few questions and maybe seeking permissions as required – checking with you first.

On Tuesday 21 April 2016 we will put the names of all entries in a prize draw for a £50 voucher to spend in any Salford Community Leisure shop or café. We will notify the winner by Friday 24 April.

The Salford Creative Health Network has recently appointed 4 new Community Representatives to the Steering Group. These new members will work alongside existing reps from Salford City Council, Salford CVS and Salford Community Leisure. You can find more information below.

The Network has around 150 members and meets 3-4 times each year.

During 2024-5 we have funding from the Salford Culture Place Partnership and Booths Charities to work with 8 community groups across the city to co-design together a Salford Creative Health Action Plan. You can find more information below.

If you are interested in joining the Network or if you have any questions, please email caroline.alexander@scll.co.uk.

The Network would like to thank the Distributors of the Booth Charities and the Culture Place Partnership team for their support.

The next Salford Creative Health Network meeting is on Wednesday 25 March 2026, from 11am to 1pm at Broughton Community Centre.

The focus of this meeting is exploring barriers to creativity & culture.

  • This meeting is for any community groups, creatives, arts organisations, health or social care services in Salford.
  • If you’ve had personal experience of creativity improving your wellbeing – then we’d love you to join the Network.
  • Members of lived-experience forums are especially welcome, as are artists and creative practitioners.
